No wonder they were both so controversial. You would think the videos are very similar, at the surface, but the vibes they set out are profoundly different and very problematic. By its side, we have a video named “Ode to 2011”, made by Grayagent (who seems to be a “private adult director for hire”) as advertising for a website called Gray’s Provocation, set to Zed’s Dead’s dubstep remix of the original Massive Attack song. In the video, actress Georgiana Spelvin is shown, both in her youth acting in porn films, and at her present age, giving snippets of an interview regarding her experiences. Firstly, we have Massive Attack’s “Paradise circus” track, from their 2010 album, Heligoland, featuring Hope Sandoval. I think it’s the perfect duo to showcase the Single & B-side idea. I present to you two spectacularly unsafe for work videos today (so unsafe, in fact that I couldn’t find the uncensored versions on YouTube), both of which do an amazing job of complementing a song, albeit from very different perspectives.
